Cotswolds
hotspots
Evening Standard Home & Property 23 April 2003
The
790 square miles of the Cotswolds have more listed buildings
and monuments than anywhere in the country. It is a designated
area of natural beauty - second only in size to the Lake District
- with more than 20 million visitors a year. There are three
hotspots, according to the magazine Cotswold Life:
The Coin Valley is
quintessential Cotswolds, with the sort of villages that,
are featured in picture books. They include Ablington, Winson,
Coln St Dennis, Coln St Aldwyn, Hatherop and Southrop.
The
area around Burford, Oxfordshire, has picturesque villages
such as Great Barrington, Little Barrington, Taynton and Shipton-underWychwood.
Finally,
the area to the north-east of Cheltenham has exclusive
places such as Temple Guiting, Turkdean, Cold Aston, Guiting
Power and Naunton.
